Closing Time

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

A study of sun past the horizon lit clouds shows the contrast of those still in the sun’s path to those now overlooked.  I’ve always loved how if you glance at the view of an equally lit sky, your mind can almost believe that the clouds are mountains, or the sky some sort of sea on a shoreline of cloud.  Only through familiarity do we associate clouds with the sky.

Little Sister

Friday, February 20th, 2009

After the dusk, the sentinels of the night prepare to light a path.

Last Grasp

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

The last smoldering embers of clouds outline an ever darkening sky over the ocean at South Trigg beach.

Awash

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Clouds illuminated by a sun on the brink of setting above South Trigg beach.  The sky begins to lose its clarity and this is replaced with a haze.

Rocks

Monday, February 16th, 2009

A well weathered advisory sign adorns the ocean’s edge at South Trigg Beach.  Those playing at home have possibly seen it on this site before, quite some time ago!

Adrift

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Proof that too much vignetting is never enough (sorry Ian).

Coastal grasses drift gracefully in the late afternoon breeze.  The grasses keep the wandering dunes of the Swan Coastal Plain at least somewhat stable in the South Trigg Beach area.

I’ve been on a training course on the East Coast this past week where Internet access is apparently expensive ($24.95/day?) hence the lack of photos.  Back to one’s regular schedule from today.

Perth from Gooseberry Hill

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Gooseberry Hill offers a very scenic drive and breathtaking views of the city of Perth.  On this particular 38°C day, the out focus and blue hue on the city is caused by a generous heat haze.

New Horizons

Friday, January 30th, 2009

For elissa, whose travels will bring her long sunsets and even longer beaches.  Good luck!

Rising

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

To cap off a warm day and a warm hued sunset on Leighton Beach; on opposite sides of the horizon the full moon sits aplomb amongst a purple sky.

Awed

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

A copper hued sky fades into darkness around the all conquering glow of the sun descending into night.
