Slap It In

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Part of the talents of being Australian is the innate ability to be able to repair things on the fly in a somewhat ad hoc manner.  Be it a pair of pantyhose for a fan belt in your car, a bit of fencing wire to fix a fuse on your house, or in the case of this photo, cutting down a power pole to prop up your verandah…

…uh yeah.

You Are Here

Monday, September 21st, 2009

A few years ago I toyed with the idea of a website where people could submit photos of tourist signs which say ‘You Are Here’.  Unfortunately all of the good domain names were taken and it died a natural death.  It doesn’t, however, stop me collecting said photos.

Inside Lynton ruins

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

A century or more of aggregated graffiti adorns the walls of the ruins inside.

On another note, I’m heading back to the Kalbarri region for another self imposed long weekend, so the updates will stop here for a couple of days, but, there will be lots of new photos (hopefully with some wildflowers) from next week.

Port Gregory

Monday, August 17th, 2009

There’s something so wonderfully optimistic and maybe naive about the single metal signs on the fringes of rural towns extolling their virtues.  Port Gregory’s is no different, telling you all about trading hours at the local store and about the CWA and local tennis club.

Faded, rusting, you can’t but wonder what it was like when the sign was first put up.
