Bark

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

A tree on the shore of the Swan river.

Dappled

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

The floor of what probably should be a river but isn’t until the winter rains really kick in is illuminated by gaps in the canopy.

Radiate

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Plam fronds are cast lazily against a winter’s sky on the shores of Lake Monger.

Basking II

Monday, July 6th, 2009

An Eurasin Coot preening itself on one of the old boat ramps on the shore of Lake Monger.

Kudos to the Australian Museum‘s Birds In Backyards website for making it easier to identify birds!

Resplendent

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

A Black Swan (cygnus atratus) curiously eyes the photographer as it gracely cruises along the water of Lake Monger.

And so I’m back.  It’s been nice having a break, but, it’s back to the world of taking photos and sharing them!  And hopefully, with a few surprises to come on this site in the coming months.

Footbridge at Loch McNess

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

The footbridge across Loch McNess is fringed by remnants of the fires which affected Yanchep National Park at the start of 2009.

Path to Bluff Knoll

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Bluff Knoll is a fascinating place and I recently had the chance of visiting at least the base of it.  While the walk up was inviting, it was amazingly cold and the thought of six kilometres taking four hours meant that I wasn’t quite that keen.

But I will be back!

Guided by Signs

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Anyone who’s been paying attention to this site will know that I’m a pretty big fan of signs and how we use simplistic images to convey powerful messages.  This image in particular is one of those examples and just happens to be one of my favourite signs in recent times.  Simple, straight to the point.

Warren River National Park.

Still Waters

Monday, April 13th, 2009

The Warren River is not so much to look at in early autumn, owing mostly to reduced water flows and the somewhat sluggish nature of the water.  That said, framed in lush green foliage, once can only imagine what it’d look like with a brisk winter flow.

Watercolour

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

So I decided to post a watercolour painting I recently did…

…actually, I lie, but, it had you going for a bit, right?  Still waters, Big Brook Arboretum.
