Vantage Point

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

The many grasses that bind sand dunes together take on a very warm hue, generally, in late afternoon sunlight.  Conversely, in winter, they seem almost morose pinned against a grey sky.

For Deakin

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Little fingers, tiny toes
Baby scent, button nose

Little baby, growing tall
I will catch you when you fall
You’ll grow up, now wait and see
One day you’ll be as big as me

You are my life
You are my soul
I’ll protect you
It is my role

Little fingers, tiny toes
Baby scent, button nose

– Alyssa Brooks

Happy Birthday little man, I look forward to seeing who you become, from your first tiny steps through the path of life to the mountains you ascend.

Monday, April 6th, 2009

After another weekend sojourn resulting in a few days of missing photos, I’ve returned somewhat refreshed.  A more consistent flow of images to come!

Salmon Beach looking north

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Mist whipped up by late after breezes assaults the cliffs to the north of Salmon Beach, in the D’entrecasteaux National Park.

Cliffs of Salmon Beach

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

One of the most striking features of Salmon Beach were the large cliffs right up the water’s edge.  The feeling of being somewhat hemmed in was actually quite comforting, as though one was sheltered from the world; just you and a beach.

Salmon Beach looking east

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Salmon Beach was one of our first stops ‘down south’ after earlier arriving in Bridgetown.  It’s part of the D’entrecasteaux National Park which stretches along the song coast around Windy Harbour.  It would have to be one of the most picturesque beaches I’ve seen in my life.  More photos of it over the next few days.

Encroaching

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

I’ve been on a very relaxing sojourn down south the last three days hence the lack of photos.  The good news though is that three days exploring the wonders of Pemberton, Manjimup and Bridgetown means I’m armed with quite a few images which I’ll start posting from tomorrow.

Crisp 2

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Crisp in name and nature.  Gorgeous crepuscular rays soar majestically above the rain clouds surrounding the sunset at North Beach.

Layers

Layers of lit clouds linger over the setting sun.  North Beach.

Raining Fire

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

The fiery sunset and a small cloud of rain play off each other below clear skies west of North Beach, Perth.
